Are you a hands-on engineer ready to ensure that advanced test rigs are commissioned, tested, and operated safely and reliably? As Blykalla expands our operations, we are looking for a Commissioning Engineer to join our team in Oskarshamn and play a key role in bringing our technology from installation to operation.
What we do at Blykalla
Blykalla is developing the next generation of nuclear technology with our Small Modular Reactor (SMR) based on innovative fuel, materials, and reactor designs. As Sweden’s only SMR developer, we are on a mission to decarbonize industries and enable safe, scalable, and sustainable energy solutions. Our technology uses uranium nitride fuel and lead coolant, creating novel challenges and opportunities for the fuel cycle and supporting systems.

What You’ll Get to Do
As a Commissioning Engineer, you will take responsibility for commissioning rigs and test systems, ensuring safe and reliable operation throughout installation, cold commissioning, and hot commissioning phases. You will support both mechanical and electrical aspects, working closely with engineers, contractors, and operators to ensure smooth execution.
Your responsibilities will include:
Planning, executing, and supervising commissioning activities.
Verifying mechanical installations (e.g.: gaskets, sealings, flanges) and electrical systems (e.g.: heat tracing, testing, and troubleshooting).
Operating test rigs and performing on-site troubleshooting in installation, commissioning and start up phase, as well as during test campaigns.
Preparing and maintaining commissioning documentation, including test reports and checklists.
Participating in and initiating risk assessments, including performing dynamic risk assessments as needed.
Ensuring safety and quality standards are upheld at all times.

Where This Role Can Take You
At Blykalla, engineers working close to our technology gain visibility and ownership across projects. In this role, you will not only ensure rigs are running but also contribute to the development and validation of systems central to the SEALER program. Over time, you may expand into broader test operations and system integration.

Who You Are
You are a practical and solution-oriented engineer who thrives on solving problems at the interface of mechanical and electrical systems. You enjoy working hands-on, but also bring the discipline needed to ensure rigorous safety and quality standards.
We believe you have:
A degree or vocational training in mechanical, electrical, or related engineering disciplines.
Hands-on experience in commissioning, installation, or electrical/mechanical testing.
Strong understanding of mechanical systems (gaskets, sealings, flanges) and electrical systems (heat cables, fault detection).
Ability to read and interpret P&IDs;, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
Experience in troubleshooting, fault management, and root cause analysis.
Fluency in Swedish and English.
Driving licence mandatory.
Qualifications: crane manipulation, forklift operation, and working on heights training.
Experience in nuclear, energy, or heavy industrial projects is a plus.

Location
The position is based in Oskarshamn, with travel to Stockholm and partner facilities expected.
